The numbers are lower than the 4,649 deaths previously reported by National Records of Scotland because they do not include suspected and probable coronavirus infections.
Sturgeon said 68,444 people have now tested positive in Scotland, up from 67,011 the day before.
The positivity rate of the daily test is 7.9%, compared to 10.3% the day before.
Of the new cases, 602 are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 318 in Lanarkshire, 163 in Lothian and 88 in Ayrshire and Arran.
There are 1,257 hospitalized people confirmed to be carrying the virus, an increase of three in 24 hours.
Of these patients, 94 are in intensive care, an increase of two.
