Oregon, which saw a record 805 new cases on Thursday and 769 on Friday, will implement new restrictions in at least five counties to prevent Covid-19 from spreading. Officials are also asking Oregon residents not to reunite with people they don’t live with, but to limit all non-family gatherings to six people, the AP reported.
In New York City, Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Friday officials were weighing additional restrictions to deal with the outbreak in western and central New York and would announce details on Monday. Cuomo also said officials would tighten enforcement of the new quarantine requirements for out-of-state travelers.
Those who come to New York City from states other than New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts must take a Covid-19 test within three days of arrival, show proof that it is negative, and then have a another negative test on the fourth day after arrival.
“We will increase law enforcement personnel at New York airports. You shouldn’t land if you don’t have proof of a negative landing test, ”Cuomo said. “I am increasing the national guard. I’ve spoken to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio about the increase in the New York City Police Department at airports, but I want people to know we’re serious.
New Jersey is set to see further restrictions after Covid-19 hospitalizations tripled in the past seven weeks, Governor Phil Murphy said Thursday.
