Meghan Markle news: The Duchess knows she and Prince Harry have lost public favor | Royal | News

The Duke and Duchess have sensational announcements of their intention to step down as senior members of the royal family in January. Instead, the couple pledged to become “financially self-sufficient” and said they would split their time between North America and Britain.

Harry and Meghan completed their last royal engagement on March 9 when they attended the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. After a brief stint in Canada, the couple moved to California shortly before the state entered the coronavirus lockdown.

According to The Sun, the Duke and Duchess recently hired two more advertising experts to boost their public image.

Christine Weil Schirmer has become their communications manager while Toya Holness takes on the post of press officer.

Speaking to the newspaper, a source said: ‘Meghan is well aware that she and Harry are no longer the golden couple.

“Prince William and Kate can no longer hurt now when it comes to the UK, as she and Harry are seen as an interested couple who left the royal family to pursue their own interests.

“Meghan hopes to turn things around and show people how determined she is to do good, and for them to see a different and more positive side for her.

“While this isn’t crisis management per se, given its popularity rating right now, it’s not far off.

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan called the photographs “an unpleasant publicity stunt”.

He added: “Simply outrageous – treating Remembrance Sunday as a public relations opportunity and trying to steal the headlines from real royals doing their homework.

Speaking to Royal Sun biographer Ingrid Seward also sharply criticized the move which she said demonstrates Harry is now “lost forever.”

She said: ‘The Sussexes wanted it to sound like they care, which I’m sure they did.

“But it backfired and looked like it was: a publicity stunt.

Recently Harry and Meghan moved into a new £ 11.2million home in Santa Barbara, north of Los Angeles.

This luxurious property includes a tennis court, swimming pool and children’s cottage.

In September, it was announced that the Duke and Duchess had struck a mega deal with streaming giant Netflix.

The couple will produce films, documentaries and children’s shows for the online entertainment service.

There is speculation that Meghan and Harry might appear on screen themselves in some of the documentaries.
