“I wanted to continue,” Saget told Variety. “I deserved it. But my voice broke a bit and, look, the audience voted. And I’m one of those people who accept the result when people say ‘you know, you’re not coming back’.
Saget played the role of the “squiggly monster,” whom he admitted was difficult to navigate – but perhaps the safest costume in the room. “The Squiggly head is like 30 to 40 pounds of COVID security,” he says.
“Nothing goes in or out, including air,” he added. “So that was the hardest part. I literally couldn’t see and then they would hold my hand – but they couldn’t find my hand because I had lobster claws for the upper hands and the lower ones were filament. It was a kind of crab, colored with all the creatures represented on the planet.
Saget said he had been asked in the past to do “The Masked Singer,” but his busy schedule still bothered him. But with the COVID-19 pandemic interrupting his tour dates, Saget was eager to return to the stage.
“I was supposed to be on tour now,” he says. “I was supposed to shoot a special in a month or two. I must play!
But for Saget, who likes to chat, keeping his appearance as a “masked singer” a secret was difficult. “I have a big trap, I keep talking,” he says. “A few sign an NDA, and neither can they tell a soul. My wife couldn’t tell her family. One of my daughters, I said, but I didn’t tell the other two. Everything is done like the CIA.
Even panelist Ken Jeong has been kept in the dark, despite Saget also appearing in Jeong’s new companion series, “I Can See Your Voice.”
Saget performed the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” a week after performing another rock classic, “Have You Ever See the Rain,” by Creedence Clearwater Revival. If he had continued, Saget had also practiced “Folsom County Blues” by Johnny Cash and “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash.
“I have always sung,” said the comedian. “I started doing comedies when I was 17. And then every stage I did, I sang three or four songs. These two songs “Satisfaction” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” I did with John Stamos and his band and other very famous musicians. It’s something I do that I love to do.
Saget, who was already friends with executive producer Craig Plestis, gave the production top marks. “They are incredibly caring and careful there,” he said. “And the wardrobe folks, it’s just Team A. The reason this is the number one show is because they go out of their way to do it right.
Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, and Ken Jeong all figured out it was Saget, while Nicole Scherzinger went with Gary Cole. Guest panelist (and season 2 winner) Wayne Brady, who opened the show by singing “Memories” from Maroon 5, also understood it was Saget.
“The first week they were playing the game and were funny,” Saget said. “By saying it was Dr. Fauci, they guessed Brad Garrett or Ray Romano. But they did know. I mean, I even heard Robin at one point say “Saget,” then I turned my head as Squiggly, looking at him. He wasn’t trying to spin me around and look at him. But I stupidly gave my blanket!
New this season, the show’s panelists are also competing for a “Golden Ear” trophy based on their first impressions of each masked artist – and in the episode, McCarthy Wahlberg and Scherzinger each had two points, Thicke had one. , while Jeong so far had zero.
McCarthy Wahlberg got a third point, and takes the lead, choosing Saget as his first impression. Thicke also chose Saget as his first impression, giving him a second point. Jeong’s first impression was Fabio, while Scherzinger wrote “one of the Ying Yang twins”.
Saget joins Season 4 unmasked contestants Wendy Williams (Lips), Mark Sanchez (Baby Alien), Brian Austin Green (Giraffe), Mickey Rourke (Gremlin) and Busta Rhymes (Dragon).
“I have more appreciation for Big Bird on Ice than ever before,” said Saget. “The only advice I have for other people doing the show in the future, make sure you go to the bathroom before you get dressed, that’s all I have to say. It’s not a spacesuit.

Voice off: “You know, mushrooms have a bad reputation. A lot of people don’t like our taste. But I’m here to win the world, one song at a time. Even as a young mushroom, I knew I was quirky. I often felt like I didn’t belong anywhere. Compared to other mushrooms, I had totally different roots. I was around the food and the weird customs. But then I realized that beneath the surface were all entangled together, as one. And even a porcini or a crimini can be a prom queen. Once I agree to be a nerd, an outcast, I can proudly share my unique gifts. My quirk brought me here, and now it’s time to go get the golden mask.

Voice off: “I love Broccing this costume. I feel like I’m a success for the “Masked Singer” diet plan. Besides being so scorching under this mask, I have already lost weight. But that’s not a problem. Because as far back as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a broccoli. I dreamed of being a super food that enriches people’s lives. And one night I had the opportunity to do just that. I had dinner with a legendary friend, the Big Cheese. I ran home and after a sleepless night cooked a beauty that really packed a punch. I called the boss. I did something special but even I couldn’t imagine the classic I created. And all from one meal. Tonight, I will serve another aspect of my heritage, the sensual side.

Plus, I’m here without the people who come to pick me up when I fall: my family. My parents are the knees of the sea. By sacrificing their time and their careers so that I can fulfill my dream. It’s my turn or my death, Papa Joey, he helped design my whole world and taught me the best hacks in life. For years he would wake up at 3 a.m., put me in the car, and I would wake up hours later at concerts in distant lands. Tonight I’m going to use my father’s wisdom to fight the nerves.
