Elliott Injury Update
With players dropping like flies in Liverpool in recent weeks, the last thing the Reds needed to see was Anfield prodigy Harvey Elliott, injured on loan at Blackburn Rovers last night in their Lancashire Derby with Preston North End .
Sub himself, Elliott entered the fray at Deepdale just past the hour mark with the Rovers 2-0 in a game they would win 3-0.
However, the 17-year-old only lasts 20 minutes before having to make way for teammate John Buckley.
The Lancashire Telegraph reports that Elliott’s pass helped create the third goal, scored by Tyrhys Dolan, but he received treatment soon after following a strong challenge from Ryan Ledson.
However, the article adds that Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray is hoping Elliott’s injury will not be serious.
“The first news is that we hope this is just a kick.
“It happened pretty quickly, a bruise, but it doesn’t look like it’s badly damaged.
“When you think of a knee injury, you think of ligaments, but it doesn’t seem to be anything like that.
“Just a pretty tough kick and we hope that’s it.
“People like Harvey Elliott can’t play every three days.
“The eight first-team players we have are not available, we have to get them back as soon as possible.”
