Henderson suffers setback from injury
Liverpool suffered another injury after skipper Jordan Henderson was forced to leave England’s defeat in Belgium.
Henderson was replaced as a precaution after complaining about a problem during the half-time break in the 2-0 UEFA Nations League loss in Leuven on Sunday night.
It will be reassessed on Monday morning when England return to St George’s Park to begin preparations for Wednesday’s Wembley clash with Iceland.
Henderson is almost certain to miss the game, with the Three Lions now unable to advance to next year’s finals and are not in danger of relegation from the top of the competition.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be keen to find out the extent of possible damage to his captain, however, as he grapples with an injury crisis for the Leicester City managers’ Premier League visit on Sunday.
“Jordan got a bit of tension at half-time and felt he couldn’t continue,” England boss Gareth Southgate said.
When asked if it was a hamstring problem, he replied, “Medically I should leave this for now.
“We’ll just have to assess it when we get back. ”
