Live updates as buyers start to panic ahead of second lockdown

Panic buying could make a comeback in supermarkets after Boris Johnson announced a second nationwide lockdown.People started lining up outside supermarkets in Grimsby and Cleethorpes this morning in a weirder reminder of the days before the lockdown was implemented in March.

Like the first lockdown, Boris Johnson reassured people that supermarkets and other essential stores will remain open everywhere.

The second nationwide lockdown goes into effect at 12:01 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, and is expected to last four weeks, until Wednesday, December 2.

The plan is then to relax the restrictions and turn them into “local lockdowns”.

North Lincolnshire entered a Level 2 lockdown just hours before yesterday’s announcement.
