Raptors fan favorite Serge Ibaka took to social media to thank the Toronto Raptors organization and say goodbye to the city (and the country).
“How do I explain what Toronto, Canada and the Raptors mean to me?” I was welcomed to a new country and a new team over three years ago and felt at home from day one. I feel really lucky to have played for this city, these fans and this organization, ”he wrote.
This follows reports that Serge Ibaka signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers Ibaka spent nearly four seasons with the Raptors.
In his last season with the Raptors, Ibaka averaged 15.4 points and 8.2 rebounds in 27 minutes per game.
The Congolese tall man joined the team in 2017 after a trade that dispatched Terrence Ross and a first-round pick at Orlando Magic.
“The love I received on this trip I will never forget,” he wrote. “I want to thank Larry Tanenbaum and MLSE and the entire Toronto Raptors organization. It’s a really great organization and I’m grateful to have become an NBA champion with them.
Ibaka will reunite with former Raptors star Kawhi Leonard as he joins the Clippers. His new deal is reportedly for two years worth US $ 19 million and includes a second year player option.
