GMB’s Piers and Susanna grind their teeth as Dr Hilary breaks coronavirus rules on live TV

Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were left cringe today as Dr Hilary Jones appeared to be breaking coronavirus rules live on GMB.The hosts had wished co-star Richard Arnold a happy birthday when the mistake was made.

Piers and Susanna weren’t impressed after the producers said there would be too many people in the studio if Richard walked into the studio.

Dr Hilary had said he would get up and go, but the bosses said there was not enough time.

Still, Piers was determined to wish their colleague a happy birthday as Dr Hilary moved out of the studio to allow Richard in.

“Honestly, the fact that we can’t get him in and wish him a happy birthday – Dr Hilary, you might have to leave for five minutes,” Piers said.

He went on to say that his daughter only had one person on her birthday – who happened to be himself.

“It’s really disappointing,” Susanna joked.

Richard stuck his head around the door and initially Piers and Susanna clapped.

But when Dr Hilary went to see him to introduce him, Susanna panicked screaming, “No, no, no! You are meant to be socially distant! ”

She sighed, saying, “Oh my God. ”

“You’re too close,” Piers pointed out. “That’s the problem with the doctors! ”
