France strengthens its border controls after the terrorist attacks

PARIS (AP) – French President Emmanuel Macron has said France is stepping up its border controls after a series of terrorist attacks that have hit the country in recent weeks. Macron said on Thursday that the number of police and soldiers carrying out border controls would double from 2,400 now to 4,800. He said they would focus on tackling illegal immigration and smuggling activity. Macron added that “terrorist actions can in fact be carried out by some people who use migratory flows to threaten national territory. We must therefore strengthen our controls. “
