“We expect this process to be completed in the next few days, once the agency is satisfied that Boeing has addressed the safety concerns that played a role in the tragic loss of 346 lives aboard Lion Air flight 610 and the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, ”FAA Administrator Steve Dickson told FOX Business in a statement. “The FAA continues to work with aviation authorities around the world as they prepare to validate our certification decision. “

While Dickson declined to give a specific date for potential approval, Reuters reported that the agency could approve the plane’s grounding as early as November 18. Dickson said the agency “will take the time it needs” before approving the return of the struggling airliner.

“Even as we approach the finish line, I will only lift the grounding order after our safety experts are satisfied that the aircraft meets certification standards,” Dickson added.
