Dolly Parton has advice for a “divided” America

The seemingly timeless iconic country artist appeared in the episode of “Today” on Sunday to promote her new album, “A Holly Dolly Christmas”, and her Netflix musical “Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square”.

On “Today” she said, “I think we’ve become so divided, because people seem to like to hate. You know?

“It’s the Christmas season ahead,” Parton said. “But we have to carry this Christmas spirit of peace to Earth and love one another. We have to wear it in the new year.

“And God knows, I hope next year will be better than this one,” she added.

Amen, Dolly Parton. Amen.”A Holly Dolly Christmas” is Parton’s first holiday album in 30 years and features duets with several artists including Miley Cyrus and Jimmy Fallon.

Parton told “Today” that she “wanted to do another Christmas album for a long time, and I had the time to do so, since we had kind of all locked ourselves in our homes.

“So I started to write some of these original songs, and I collected other old classics,” she said. “And we grabbed a bunch of friends, and we just went. ”

Leave it to Parton to try to make us feel better in these tumultuous times.

“We can’t save the world, but we can save the world we live in,” she said. “Maybe I’m dreaming. But I don’t think so. “
