Dani Ceballos Says David Luiz Incident Shows Arsenal Has Character | Football News

Dani Ceballos believes his recent rash on the training ground with David Luiz shows Arsenal have a character never before seen until Mikel Arteta arrived.

Reports suggest the 24-year-old midfielder was involved in a physical altercation with the Brazilian defender following an argument after a training match during the international break.

Although both players quickly advanced, Ceballos believes it shows that the team is moving in the right direction under Arteta.

“It wasn’t exemplary behavior, but it’s good to see Arsenal alive – that the team have character,” Ceballos said. SunSport.

“The team was almost dead – but after the arrival of Arteta we won the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

“It’s not even been a year since he arrived and he’s made a drastic change at the club.

“He is the soul of the club and he is lucky that the players trust him 100%. ”

At the time, Arteta downplayed the incident but promised there would be “consequences” if he found out the source of the media leak.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has played down reports of a training ground dispute between David Luiz and Dani Ceballos and said there is no problem between the two.

“The training is very competitive and problems arise a lot,” said Arteta. “These things resolve themselves immediately within the team and there is not much to say.

” There is no problem [between the two players] but I don’t like the fact that this incident is happening at all.

“And I’m going to find out where it came from and if it does, it goes completely against what I expect from each other, the privacy and confidentiality that we need,” and there will be consequences.

This is not the first time Ceballos, on a one-season loan from Real Madrid, has been involved in an altercation with a teammate.

He was filmed at odds with Eddie Nketiah as the two substitutes warmed up ahead of Arsenal’s victory at Fulham on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Merson: Arsenal are a mid-table team

Paul Merson wondered if Arsenal were making any improvements under Mikel Arteta, saying the Gunners were nothing more than a mid-table team.

“Some people say a step forward, a step back. A step back?! It’s nice, ”Merson said. “They were a million kilometers from Leeds last Sunday.

“It did Arsenal a favor when Nicolas Pepe was sent off, Leeds then ran out of ideas because Arsenal had to sit still.

“Only a few weeks ago Leicester went to Leeds and put four behind them. Leeds scored goals. The teams that beat them are the teams with players who can get past their defenders; Arsenal don’t have that.

“Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is bringing absolutely nothing to the party for the moment. He played center and was as ineffective as before.

“You look at them and think they’re a mid-table team. Looking at that win at Manchester United, it doesn’t look so good now. “
