A Campbell River bar has been fined $ 4,600 for failing to comply with COVID-19 health regulations.

Campbell River RCMP spokesperson Const. Maury Tire said the bar, which police did not identify, had been visited several times by police and health officials for flouting British Columbia’s COVID-19 Related Measures Act.

Tire said previous visits were for “educational purposes” to ensure the rules, which do not include more than six people at a table and cease alcohol sales at 10 p.m., were followed.

However, during a subsequent check at the downtown site, officers found other violations and imposed two fines of $ 2,300 on the bar.

“They were serving after 10 years, there were more than six people at a table… just about every rule you can think of was broken,” Tire said.
