Corrie star apologizes to Jane Danson for ‘hurtful’ tweet

Coronation Street alumni Vicky Entwistle has apologized to Jane Danson after tweeting “hurtful” comments.

Danson’s character Leanne Battersby was at the center of a heart-wrenching storyline involving her son Oliver, who had a rare mitochondrial disease that prevented him from functioning without a machine. After fighting the doctors’ decision to let him go in peace, Leanne finally gave in and Oliver died.

Entwistle, who played Leanne Janice’s stepmother until 2011, responded to Toyah actress Georgia Taylor’s tweet, in which she praised Danson for her performance.

Danson shut down her former co-star with her response, tweeter: “It’s so disrespectful. They were some of the best scripts I have ever had. Shame on you for writing that! Very disappointed [with] how mean this comment was. ”

Entwistle deleted his original tweet and the latter issued a public apology. “I apologized to @RealJaneDanson this morning,” she wrote. ” Well Named. She is a wonderful actress! My tweet was childish and hurtful. I realize it and I am very sorry for any harm I may have caused. “
