Shane and Coleen married for nine years in the ’90s and had two sons together.
They remain friends and she closely follows his adventures at the castle.
Speaking to her son Shane Jnr, she said, “May I say how proud I am of your father?
“I think he’s doing brilliantly, I really do. He is very funny and he kept his cool. I thought he would have lost his temper by now.
“He gets bored very easily. ”
Shane, 56, has seen his television career dwindle in the years since leaving EastEnders and Mirror columnist Coleen, 55, believes doing well on the ITV show would be a real boost.
She added, “I would love Shane to be in the top three because I know how much it would mean to him.
As much as he puts on this bravado, I know it would mean a lot. ”

Shane married his current wife Christie in 2007 and they have three children together.
Speaking last week, Christie recounted how Shane broke some rules her kids told her to stick to so as not to embarrass them.
When asked if Shane could win, Christie added, “I don’t know it’s up to everyone but he has great support and his fans are amazing.

“It’s anyone’s game and you’re as good as your last episode. They are a great bunch and bring out the best in each other. ”
