Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro said in October that the team expected to be active during the offseason and would not be under financial restrictions. Toronto has already re-signed southpaw Robbie Ray.
High-profile free agents such as National League winner Cy Young Trevor Bauer and star outfielder George Springer have reportedly been linked to the Blue Jays. The former teased Toronto as a potential landing point in early November when he said “this could be a destination”.
The team are also said to be one of the main contenders for Cleveland Indians All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor.
Toronto made the playoffs last season for the first time since 2016.
