But Paul Hollywood looked remarkably different in a dark-haired ’80s throwback pic, which he shared with fans on Instagram on Tuesday.
The celebrity chef, 54, posted the young pic ahead of Bake Off’s’ 80s-themed week, joking that contestants had better make their “quiche, vol au vent and slices of custard.”

Despite his instantly recognizable piercing blue eyes, people couldn’t believe how different the judge from Bake Off was.
But fans were quick to rush to compliment the TV star on his short brown hair in the ‘handsome’ snap – with some noting a resemblance to Hollywood icon Tom Cruise.

Series 9 Bake Off winner Rahul Mandal responded to Paul’s snap, teasing that he was “born in the 80s” – when Paul would have already been 20 in 1986.
Rahul wrote: “I was born in the 80’s !! Can’t wait to see tonight’s episode. Good luck to the amazing bakers!
Some Paul fans have also pointed out his resemblance to his 18-year-old son Josh, whom he shares with his ex-wife Alexandra.

This isn’t the first time Paul has shared a throwback photo on Instagram as the TV personality also revealed another ’80s photo in July.
The unrecognizable photo saw Paul donning shoulder-length black hair falling in front of his face during his “art school days.”
Young Paul, who would have been around 17 at the time, posed while holding his cat in the image dated “circa 1982/3”.
The TV star kissed her long brown locks while studying sculpture at The Wirral’s Wallasey School of Art, before continuing her career in baking.
Along with the snap, he wrote: ‘Hold my cat… art school days around 1982/3 .. !!! X. ‘

Rahul, 33, commented on Paul’s eerie resemblance to GBBO presenter Noel Fielding, known for his dark locks.

This week’s episode of Bake Off sees the remaining contestants fight back in the week of the ’80s, after Mark Lutton was the last person to be eliminated from the show last Tuesday.
The amateur baker failed to impress with his Japanese-inspired pastries despite starting the week confidently.
Mark struggled to impress the judges with his burger-style steamed buns, as he landed in fifth place in the technical challenge.

The showstopper challenge, in which bakers were tasked with creating a ‘cute’ kawaii creation, turned out to be the final straw for the North Irish baker, 27, with his avocado-themed creation referred to as’ inedible ”by Judge Paul Hollywood.
Speaking after his release, Mark became emotional, saying, “When you know, you know. I thought it was my time tonight.
Elsewhere in the series, Lottie had some glee after being crowned a Baker Star for the first time thanks to her outstanding display of toads.
Tension on the pastry show will increase this week as bakers battle for a spot in the quarter-finals.
The Great British Bake Off continues Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Channel 4.
