Baby Yoda Eating Eggs In “The Mandalorian” Has Drew Backlash – / Film

Last week’s episode of The Mandalorian featured a lot of antics from the show’s character, The Child (or Baby Yoda, as the internet likes to call it). However, some fans didn’t find the child’s hunger for the eggs of an alien frog to be this entertaining. There has been some outcry from those who found the child’s sneaky snacking to be a bit careless about the life they represent. After all, these are the unfertilized eggs of an alien frog woman that she is desperately trying to provide for her husband.

Lucasfilm has responded to complaints that have been recorded online about Baby Yoda eating eggs, but the response doesn’t exactly make the situation much more forgivable. But that depends on how you feel about a presumably unconscious child satisfying their hunger for eggs.

A complaint of The Child’s appetite expressed (via Entertainment Weekly): “I’m a mom. It’s no fun at all to hear Mama Frog go into great detail about how important and love her eggs are to her and having to watch them get eaten three times for shits and laughs.
Another fan on Twitter added, « TThe Frog Lady was very adamant that her eggs were important to her, and that this was her last and only chance to have children, so it’s actually closer to fucking someone In vitro fertilization, which would be incredibly upsetting for an aspiring mom. It’s not funny. “

Here’s What Lucasfilm Creative Art Director Phil Szostak said on twitter about their intentions with the child’s egg appetite:

“For the record, #TheMandalorian Chapter 10 makes it clear that frog eggs are unfertilized, like the chicken eggs that many of us enjoy. But of course, chickens are not sentient beings, and the Egg Eating Child is intentionally disturbing, to a funny effect. Horror fans know disturbing things make some of us laugh and some of us squirm, or both. Your mileage may vary. “

What the complaints probably boil down to is that for some it can be quite heartbreaking to watch a creature that seems so innocent do something quite heinous. But at the same time, it’s not as if Mando hasn’t tried several times to keep the child away from his eggs. Like any child, this one doesn’t listen very well when there is something he really wants. Although the alien frog woman is sensitive, for a child eggs are just food. He’s not malicious, he’s just mischievous, and he probably doesn’t fully understand the gravity of the situation. He may be in tune with the Force, but he clearly has a lot to learn about civilization. After all, he tried to suffocate Cara Dune when he mistakenly thought she was threatening Mando.

Everyone will react to something differently based on their personal experiences. These complaints are valid when taken from another perspective, and this is where it could help Lucasfilm have a more feminine perspective in certain situations. Again, Kathleen Kennedy is President of Lucasfilm, and she has two children with her husband Frank Marshall. If she thought there was a problem there, she surely would have reported it. Again, that doesn’t make these complaints invalid, they just come from a different perspective.
I think it’s important to remember that fictional characters aren’t created to be perfect either. Some of the complaints being recorded online these days believe that a character’s expression of a controversial issue or inappropriate behavior means the creators are tolerating it. This is simply not the case. This is where Lucasfilm’s reference to horror comes in, as a lot of people have been through horrific things that have happened in many films of the genre, but the intention to portray these events is to convey fear. and discomfort. For some it’s disturbing, for others it’s an entertaining adrenaline rush.

The good news is that there might be any hope of potential redemption. It has been theorized that the child may be keeping some of the eggs safe because the Force allowed him to predict that the eggs will be threatened in some way, perhaps the tank containing them will be. destroy. But given Lucasfilm’s explanation on the matter, that seems less likely. Moreover, if that was the case, there would be no real reason to sneak in and trap them.

We’ll just have to attribute that to nature. Not all creatures are as civilized as we are, and animals eat other animals in nature all the time. It is clear that the child still has more primitive impulses which he must be taught to master.
