Anthony Davis reacts to LA trading for Dennis Schroder

The Los Angeles Lakers have been making headlines lately after news broke that the defending champions had just brought in Dennis Schroder via a trade deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was seen as a tremendous move for the Lakers, and apparently LA superstar Anthony Davis fully agrees.

In a recent appearance on the Posted with C. Haynes program, Davis explained why he thought Schroder’s arrival in Los Angeles would be good for the Lakers’ title defense next season:

“It’s a great pickup, with Schröder alongside LeBron, and the other guys they (the Lakers) decide to get or whatever… I think it was a good pickup,” said Davis (h / t Donny McHenry of the Lakers Outsiders). “Like you said, he could easily win the sixth man of the year, any year. He played very well alongside CP (Chris Paul) and Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander). He’s tough, he’s shot the ball well this year, he can get into the paint, he can find guys and he’s very, very disjointed. I think it was a good decision, a good recovery for the Los Angeles Lakers.

As Davis expressed above, Schroder was one of the best players in the entire NBA last season coming off the bench. The 27-year-old averaged 18.9 points (on 46.9% shots), 3.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists, while knocking down 1.9 trebles per game. The German national averaged 30.8 minutes per contest, and while he might not see the same workload for the Lakers, Schroder is still expected to play a central role for Purple & Gold’s next term.
