Animal Crossing: New Horizons Winter Update Adds Turkey Day, Toy Day, and More Home Storage

Animal Crossing: New horizonsThe next update arrives on November 19 – and adds seasonal festivities to the game, such as Turkey Day and Toy Day. The free update will also add some new reactions, hairstyles, and the ability to transfer saved data. There’s a lot to be excited about in this update, with another slated for late January. (On the New Year’s theme, of course.)

Players will be able to participate in Turkey Day activities on November 26, with Toy Day on December 24 – aligned with Thanksgiving and Christmas.

On Turkey Day, Franklin – a turkey chef – will visit and help create a feast in the square. Players will need to bring him ingredients, and Nintendo has said Franklin will give a gift for his help. Of course, the whole thing also looks very appropriate for the season.

Toy Day (Animal Crossing’s answer to Christmas) is for giving gifts, but plenty of festive decorations will be spread across the island as well – apparently getting more and more festive ahead of the big day. Ornaments can be collected, by shaking trees, to create holiday items. Holiday toys and clothes will also be available as part of the event.

Here are the full details, straight from Nintendo:

Turkey day – On Turkey Day, which this year will be November 26, Chief First Class Franklin will arrive and hold a rally in the square. You can help Franklin gather the ingredients for the dishes that will be displayed in the plaza. You may even receive a gift from Franklin to thank you for helping him cook.

Toy day – It is the time of year when the inhabitants of the island rejoice… The month of Toy Day is near! You may notice that your island and place become progressively more festive with holiday-themed decorations over the next few weeks. Also keep an eye out for decorated trees. Shaking them can drop ornaments that will allow you to create holiday furniture recipes. From December 1 to 25, you can shop for toys at Nook’s Cranny and find vacation-themed clothing at the Able Sisters store. When it’s officially Toy Day on December 24, Jingle will be making a special visit to your island to spread the holiday cheer. If you help her deliver gifts, you will also receive a gift!

Elsewhere in the update, Nintendo plans to add nine new reactions (Sitting!!), all of which are redeemable through the Nook Stop terminal. Six new hairstyle options will also be available there – a noticeable increase in the number of hair options specific to BIPOC.

Home storage will be extended to 2,400 locations, finally. The other thing that gamers will also be very excited about is saving data transfers … which means gamers will be able to move their game to another Nintendo Switch.

The update will be added for free on November 19.
