Sandra Oh left Cristina Yang behind after season 10 of Grey’s Anatomy

Oh played Cristina on Grey’s Anatomy until the character’s final farewell in the Season 10 finale. After dancing one last time with Meredith, Cristina left the Gray Sloan Memorial for a try-on at the Cardio God in Zurich, Switzerland. Meanwhile, Oh felt like it was time to ‘let go’ Grey’s alter ego.
“Creatively, I really feel like I’ve given everything, and I feel ready to let her go,” Oh told the Hollywood Reporter in August 2013. “It’s such an interesting thing to play a character for so long and feel like she wants to be let go too.

Having said that, it was not an easy task. It took Oh two years to tell designer Shonda Rhimes she was ready to go Grey’s Anatomy.
“I’ve had a lot of therapy on this,” Oh said. “I started to think about it because I had to prepare myself. I gave myself two years to let go emotionally.
Then in a July 2020 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Oh revealed what she really thinks of her. Grey’s Anatomy Departure.

Cristina’s name appears from time to time on recent episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. She sent Meredith a nice package named Cormac “McWidow” Hayes (Richard Flood). She also wrote a heartfelt letter for her person’s medical licensing hearing in Season 16. However, Oh did not return to the Shondaland series.
In October 2013, Oh told TVLine that she “would love to come back” for the final episode of Grey’s Anatomy. But in April 2019, the actor revealed she won’t be returning for a cameo.
“Creatively you evolved,” Oh told Extra at the time. ” For me, Kill Eve is my home now. This is where I am. I am Eve. This is where I plan to stay as long as the show gets me. And that’s really where I want to be.

Then in an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, Oh was specifically asked whether or not she would return for the Grey’s Anatomy The finale of the series. But it looks like the actor really left the character behind.
“I am extremely grateful that you ask me this question because it means people are still invested and interested in Cristina Yang, who is a character that I left six years ago. I’m really grateful for that, ”Oh said. “There are so many new projects, and I’m a different person. So I should say no.
Nevertheless, it’s clear that Oh is grateful to be a part of something like Grey’s Anatomy, which continues to dominate in terms of audience.
“There’s a great deal of comfort at Grey’s, a great deal of familiarity,” Oh told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m really happy to be a part of it.”
