Watford fans react to Craig Dawson loan to West Ham

West Ham completed the signing of Watford defender Craig Dawson on a season-long loan Monday night – and some Hornets fans on Twitter have responded to the news.

The Hammers announced yesterday that they have signed the 30-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season.

Dawson, 30, is a no-frills defenseman who is a center-back by trade, but has the versatility to fit into the right-back as well.

The Englishman was part of a Watford side that were relegated from the Premier League to the Championship last season, but he was a key player at Vicarage Road for several years.

He has played 182 times in the Premier League and the majority has been spent with West Brom.

Although he is considered an aggressive old school defender, he has also proven that he can be a major goal threat in the future and he has scored 42 goals in his senior career.

A selection of Watford supporters on social media have given their thoughts on Dawson’s temporary departure and the dominant response is that they are happy to offload him, which could be a worrying sign for David Moyes’ West Ham.

He had a rough time last season with the Hornets when they were relegated and isn’t the most mobile, but he has a chance to try and jumpstart his career at London Stadium and he’s still only 30 years old.
