Whatever the Mile End, the Plateau, the Mile Ex and the Monkland Village; Verdun has been named Montreal’s coolest neighborhood and the 11th coolest neighborhood in the world, according to an annual survey by TimeOut magazine.

The TimeOut index, completed by more than 38,000 inhabitants worldwide, includes questions on “food, drink, culture, music, nightlife, sociability, happiness, progress and attractiveness” different towns and neighborhoods. Local TimeOut editors are also involved in creating the rankings.

This is not the first time that Verdun has been on the list. The region ranked 22nd in 2019. Montreal was also a regular on TimeOut lists and was named the sixth best city in the world in 2019, after New York, Melbourne, Chicago, London and LA, and ahead of Berlin, Glasgow, Paris and Tokyo.

The ranking ahead of Verdun in this year’s survey was Esquerra de l’Eixample, Barcelona; downtown LA; Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong; Bedford-Stuyvesant, New York; and Wedding, Berlin, among others.
