Vancouver Police say suspect in attempted child abduction has come forward


VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver police say a suspect and vehicle were identified in connection with an attempted kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl in South Vancouver earlier this week.On Wednesday afternoon, a girl was “approached by a man” near Kerr Street and South East Marine Drive, according to the VPD.

“The driver would have stopped and would have told the young girl to get in his vehicle”, notes a statement from the police.

No fees were recommended.

“The man driving the vehicle saw the reports on the attempted kidnapping and met and spoke with our detectives,” said Cst. Jason Doucette.

“After careful consideration of the information available, investigators considered it not to pose a threat to public safety. He has been released as investigators continue to gather additional information.

Investigators request images and witnesses from the dashcam.
