UFC star Jimmy Crute lives in a van despite his rapid rise through the MMA ranks.
The Australian sent a message to UFC boss Dana White and the light heavyweight division with a stunning display this weekend.
It took less than two minutes to deliver a devastating right hand and knock out Modestas Bukauskason Fight Island.
Crute has pocketed more than $ 160,000 (AUD) from the UFC for his efforts in the Middle East – but none of that will be coming home.
In fact, the 24-year-old has revealed that he “hates paying rent so much” that he lives in a van.“I am passionate about the life of a van. I did this for centuries before COVID, ”he says.“Dude, I just hate paying the bills. I hate paying the rent.
“It’s something I wanted to do before I even got signed (by the UFC), I just liked the idea of the van life.
“I decorated everything myself, there is running water, solar energy and I did everything myself.
The Brute added, “It’s just a small project and I don’t care what is normal.
“I don’t care what people think of me. I just do what I want to do.
After working a lot with a high performance trainer on his mental game prior to this fight, Crute scored a huge victory on Fight Island.
Immediately after his win, the Aussie sat down momentarily with his abandoned rival in a sign of respect before jumping over the wall of the Octagon to shake hands with UFC boss White.
The couple briefly exchanged words before Crute returned to the cage.
On the call, former UFC champion Daniel Cormier praised the 24-year-old, describing him as “so gifted and talented.”
Crute has improved to 4-1 in the UFC and continues to have spectacular fights. His last four appearances have ended in the first round.
