The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight himself, uses virtual production techniques for some scenes, the same techniques used for The Lion King and The Mandalorian in 2019. Rob Bredow has revealed the news when setting up this year’s visual effects and virtual VIEW animation, and said The Batman’s production team had “some practical sets pre-built in the UK and an LED wall has been built around these sets to allow the use of virtual production in these specific scenes. ”
In the first season of The Mandalorian, showrunner Jon Favreau worked with ILM to create an LED wall driven by the Unreal real-time game engine that allowed for the production of real-time visual effects while the scenes were filmed. ‘ILM, a virtual production unit, is also being used for the production of Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder, and season two of The Mandalorian will feature even more complex virtual production techniques as the technology is not as new as it is. it was during the first season.Sadly, we’ll have to wait a bit to see how virtual production has helped The Batman, as it was recently postponed until March 4, 2022.
