Alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman / Bruce Wayne is Zoë Kravitz (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Mad Max: Fury Road) like Selina Kyle; Paul Dano (Love and mercy, 12 years of slavery) like Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright (the Hunger games films) like James Gordon of the GCPD; John Turturro (the Transformers films) like Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard (The Magnificent Seven, Black Mass) comme Gotham DA Gil Colson; Jayme Lawson (Goodbye Amor) as a candidate for mayor Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis (the Planet of the Apes movies, Black Panther) like Alfred; and Colin Farrell (fantastic beasts and where to find them, Dumbo) like Oswald Cobblepot. Twins Max and Charlie Carver also joined the film in “important roles.”

During DC FanDome, director Matt Reeves, who co-wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig, confirmed that the film will focus on Bruce Wayne’s second year as Batman and, according to Walter Hamada, that the film is in a different universe separated from Justice League DCEU characters. Reeves also revealed that the film is a detective story that follows a series of murders that opens the story of corruption in Gotham and how Bruce’s family is linked.
