Elmbridge has the highest infection rate in Surrey, with 183 new cases of coronavirus recorded in the seven days to October 10 – the equivalent of 133.8 cases per 100,000 people.
Rumors have it that level 2 concerns areas that have an infection rate greater than 100 per 100,000 inhabitants, which triggers the implementation of stricter measures.
As it stands, all other areas in Surrey remain at Level 1, however, the boroughs of Mole Valley, Surrey Heath and Waverley all have infection rates close to 100 per 100,000 population, exposing the areas at risk of being placed at level 2, if cases continue to increase.
However, it is not known whether all areas with a rate greater than 100 per 100,000 inhabitants will be placed in level 2.
