Strictly Come Dancing HRVY tests positive for coronavirus

HRVY has over 10 million social media subscribers

Strictly Come Dancing HRVY contestant revealed he tested positive for coronavirus, 10 days before filming for the launch show.

YouTube star and singer tweeted say it’s “everything is fine, no symptoms, just isolate yourself for the next 10 days”.

He added: “Already super bored so get ready for my Tik Toks. ”

A BBC spokesperson confirmed that HRVY had tested positive. The 21-year-old singer is still expected to participate in the series.

They added, “Pending a negative test, HRVY will not miss the launch registration or any dance training. We wish him good luck. ”

“We have rigorous protocols in place to manage Covid-19 because the safety of everyone involved in production is paramount. ”

HRVY added on Instagram: “It proves that we young people can get it [coronavirus] without even realizing it. ”

According to NHS guidelines, a person who tests positive “will generally need to self-isolate for at least 10 days.” The launch show is scheduled to be filmed on October 12 and air five days later, with live broadcasts starting on October 24.

Jacqui Smith said all Strictly candidates are tested “very regularly”

“Regular” tests

Former Home Secretary and Strictly competitor Jacqui Smith told Good Morning Britain on Friday that HRVY was “fine”.

She said, “HRVY is an absolute darling and I was in touch with him yesterday, he’s doing great, he has no symptoms. ”

She said all Strictly candidates were tested “very regularly,” adding: “Strictly continues. There are all kinds of extremely careful restrictions and conditions in place to allow the program to run and HRVY I am sure will be back after their period of isolation in time to compete.

“So we all sent our love to HRVY and he is obviously very upset that he has to stay home but he will be back.

BBC broadcaster Clara Amfo is also on the show

The rest of the Strictly roster will include comedian Bill Bailey, actress Caroline Quentin, reality TV star Jamie Laing and boxer Nicola Adams, who compete as half of the show’s first same-sex couple.

This year’s series will be shorter than usual and Judge Bruno Tonioli will have a reduced role in the context of coronavirus restrictions.

Who is HRVY?

HRVY, real name Harvey Leigh Cantwell, has over 10 million social media followers and over a billion combined feeds to his credit. He performed on BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Middlesbrough last year.

The 21-year-old rose to fame after uploading his music videos to Facebook. He has since sold UK and European tours and his debut album will be released later this year.

When his name was announced for the show, he said, “Being on Strictly is going to be such an amazing experience and I’m so grateful to participate this year.

“I think my mom is more excited that she can see me every Saturday night now!” “
