Steelers-Titans will likely move to week 7: here’s how it affects the rest of the NFL schedule

Rescheduling an NFL game is never easy, but it looks like the league has already made a plan for the postponed game between the Steelers and Titans that was originally scheduled to be played on Sunday in Nashville.

According to, the most likely scenario because the game is that it will move to week 7, which means that instead of being played on October 4, the Steelers and Titans would now be played on October 25 in Tennessee.

For this plan to work, the NFL would have to revamp some things on the 2020 schedule. With the Titans and Steelers, then both teams would have Week 4 off. The Titans previously had to have Week 7 off, but that Now is the week they will face the Steelers if the NFL follows the plan.

Not only would the Titans and Steelers change their weeks off, the NFL is also dragging Baltimore into all of this, as the Ravens’ schedule would also have to undergo a slight change to make it all work. The Steelers were originally scheduled to travel to Baltimore in Week 7, but that game is expected to be moved. Since the Ravens and Steelers both have week 8 off, these two teams would then play in Week 8, and the Ravens’ time off would be moved to Week 7.

The most likely scenario for the NFL is the same as that proposed by RJ White, editor of, which means the league has to hunt down its Twitter feed.

The new schedule would mean the Steelers play four consecutive home games for the first time since 1970. For the Titans, nothing would change for them. They were not to leave Nashville for the entire month of October, and that would not change with this proposed change.

For the Ravens, the schedule change means they are expected to play against the Steelers twice during the month of November. Also, it means the Ravens wouldn’t have a bye before starting what should be the hardest part of their schedule. Following their Week 7 recess offer, the Ravens are set to face the Steelers, Colts (away), Patriots (away), Titans and Steelers (away) for consecutive weeks .

The NFL had to postpone the Steelers-Titans game due to a COVID-19 outbreak that hit the Titans hard. Tennessee has had a total of 11 members of its organization, including five players, tested positive for the virus since the outbreak began.

Due to the outbreak, the Titans will not be allowed to return to their training facility until Saturday at the earliest; because of this, in addition to the fact that there were even more positive tests on Thursday, the NFL felt it made more sense to simply postpone the game.

Here’s another look at the proposed changes, broken down by team:

OLD: Week 4 vs. Steelers, week 7 bye
NEW: Goodbye week 4, week 7 vs Steelers
