The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Jamie Foxx’s Electro is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Spider-Man 3, starring Tom Holland. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Foxx is in final talks to play Electro again, but this time in the MCU. “Story details are being kept under wraps, but Foxx’s return is a stunner as it shows a new amalgamation of previous Spider-Man films into the current Holland series, which is the first to have the starting point. Foxx’s Electro, of course, isn’t the first cast member from past incarnations of the Spider-Man films to reprise their role in a new MCU version as Spider-Man: The Far From Home end credits scene. soi revealed JK Simmons playing J. Jameson again, albeit a reimagined version for the digital age. It’s not known if Foxx’s Electro will actually be the same version he played in Amazing Spider-Man 2. or if, like Simmons’ J. Jonah, he’s a revamped version. If it’s the same version, it looks like we’re looking at a real multiverse, as opposed to that fake mysterio that people have hoaxed with. This line of thinking, of course, opens the door for everyone, from Peter Parkers to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to Miles Morales or Gwen Stacy, who may show up. Or maybe even Charlie Cox’s Daredevil from the Netflix series? The fantastic four? Fans are already taking to Twitter to speculate if this news means Spider-Man 3 will create a live-action Spider-Verse.As it was highlighted, the MCU Spidey movies have so far featured five members of Spidey’s classic villain team The Sinister Six – Vulture, Mysterio, Shocker, Scorpion, and now Electro – so could we see them, uh, put them together sooner on big screen that later? It’s worth noting that Sony Pictures had tried to do just that with the Amazing Spider-Man movies and even developed a Sinister Six movie at one point.

The third MCU / Sony Spider-Man movie aims to start filming in Atlanta this fall, according to THR. Jon Watts is back to direct and returning cast members include Tom Holland, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori.
