SpaceX and L3Harris Technologies Inc. win contracts for missile tracking satellites

SpaceX’s satellites will use a wide-angle infrared missile tracking sensor provided by a subcontractor, the Space Development Agency said.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX released the smaller of the two missile tracking satellite contracts awarded by the US government.The reusable rocket group, which bears the full name of, has won a US $ 149m (£ 115m) contact for four satellites, which will be carried by its satellite arm Starlink for delivery by the end from 2022.

A larger contract of US $ 193 million has been awarded to L3Harris Technologies Inc (NYSE: LHX) for the construction of four satellites.

The US space development agency announced overnight deals with the Pentagon designated as the potential user of the satellites.
