Jameer Nelson from Chester comes home.Sources tell NBC Sports Philadelphia that the Sixers and general manager Elton Brand are hiring the former Saint Joseph star as scout and assistant general manager for the Delaware Blue Coats, the organization’s G-League team.

Nelson, 38, played for the Saint Joe’s Hawks from 2000-2004, helping the school in its undefeated 27-0 regular season in 2003-04.

He became an NBA All-Star after turning pro. His playing career ended in 2018 with his last stop at the Detroit Pistons. He also played for the Mavericks, Celtics, Nuggets and Pelicans during his 14-year career.

Now he’s entering NBA leadership with the Sixers.
