Five students and two staff from Hamilton’s public and Catholic schools have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) Bennetto Elementary School was informed on Saturday that three of its students have tested positive.
The students were the last at the North School on Oct. 5, principal Sandra Rowell said in a letter to parents.
Rowell said public health would contact all Bennetto students identified as close contact with the cases on Tuesday. The letter did not indicate whether the search for contracts will take place over the weekend.
A student and staff member at St. Mary’s Catholic High School, Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB), tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday evening.
Principal Brian Daly said in a letter to parents on Friday that the two cases were the last in high school on October 2. self-isolate, effective immediately. “
A student at St. David’s Catholic Elementary School tested positive on Friday. Principal Anna Boyle said in a letter that the case lasted at the school on October 9 – the same day as their positive result.
The HWCDSB also reported a new case of COVID-19 in a staff member at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Primary School on Friday. The case was the last at school on October 6.
