Sask. reports record 326 active coronavirus cases


REGINA – Saskatchewan reported 36 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, setting a new record of active cases for the province. With 326 active cases, Saskatchewan now has its highest total number of active cases since the start of the pandemic. The previous record of 322 active cases was set on July 22.

In a statement, the province said six new cases were in the far northeast, three in the northwest, six in the north-central, three in the northeast, 10 in Saskatoon, one in the center-east, four in Regina and one in the southeast. One case is currently awaiting localization.

Of the new cases, 25 are people under 40. Six of them are under 20 years old.

Nine more people recovered from the virus, bringing the provincial total to 1955 total recoveries.

A total of 11 people are currently hospitalized in Saskatchewan. Nine are hospitalized, including five in the Saskatoon area, three in the north central area and one in the east central area. Two people are also in intensive care; one in Saskatoon and one in Regina.


  • 44 active cases come from the far north (15 far north-west, 0 far north-central, 29 far north-east)

  • 92 active cases come from the north zone (11 north-west, 67 north-central, 14 north-east)

  • 65 active cases are from the Saskatoon area

  • 56 active cases are from the Regina area

  • 51 active cases come from the central zone (12 central west, 39 central east)

  • 17 active cases come from the south zone (one south-west, four south-central, 12 south-east)

As of Friday, 2,432 COVID-19 tests were carried out in Saskatchewan.


The government said 79 people in several communities tested positive for COVID-19 at a gospel worship event in Prince Albert.

Public health has traced at least 250 contacts linked to this event.

The province considered the event to be a mass-market event. He said these spreading events are not limited to the event, but also include fast transmission in local settings.
