San Jose Sharks set to acquire forward Ryan Donato of the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun. The Sharks received the 2021 Pittsburgh Penguins’ third-round pick when they sent Patrick Marleau to the Penguins at the trade deadline this season.

The trade is expected to be officially announced on Monday.

Donato, ranked No.15 on the Trade Bait table, scored 14 goals and 23 points in 62 games last season. He was scoreless in two games when he returned to play.

The 24-year-old center was traded to the Wild by the Boston Bruins on the trade deadline in 2019 in a deal that saw Charlie Coyle go the other way. He is signed next season with a cap of $ 1.9 million.

Additionally, LeBrun notes that the two sides are working on a deal for goalie Wild. Devan Dubnyk, which could also be completed on Monday.

Dubnyk, ranked 47th on the TSN Trade Bait table, was 12-15-2 in the regular season with a career-worst 0.890 save percentage and a 3.35 goals-against average. . The 34-year-old is entering the final season of his current contract, with a cap of $ 4.33 million.

Wild chief executive Bill Guerin said in August that Dubnyk had had “a year of downtime,” but noted he was open to an upgrade at the post.

“No, the hierarchy is not clear,” Guerin said in August. “Whoever plays well will play. I was disappointed with the goalkeepers this year. (Alex Stalock) had a great year and Devan had a year off, and it must be better. It’s like that. And if I told you something different, I would be lying to you. It was not a strong point for us.

“Can these two make a difference for you next year?” No, I can’t say that. If we don’t have the feeling that we are going to be better, then we are going to improve it. “
