Major League Soccer has announced two schedule changes for Sunday’s games, with the clash between San Jose Earthquakes and LAFC postponed and the game between Sporting Kansas City and Minnesota United canceled.LAFC announced earlier this week that three players have tested positive for COVID-19 and, although the remaining players and staff continued to test negative, the decision was made to postpone the game out of caution. A decision has yet to be made whether the game will be rescheduled before the decision day presented by AT&T on November 8.
The decision to call off the game between Sporting KC and Minnesota United came after a second Minnesota player was confirmed positive on Saturday after it was announced that a player had tested positive on Wednesday. The game will not be rescheduled due to a lack of dates available prior to decision day.
The league announced Thursday that, as several clubs will end the season without playing all 23 full games, qualifying for the 2020 Audi MLS Cup playoffs and overall standings will be determined by points per game.
