Samuel Eto’o strikes at France Football for “disrespect” after naming the legendary striker in bad position for Ballon d’Or Dream Team

Samuel Eto’o launched a furious tirade at France Football after the publication called him a right-winger in his Ballon d’Or Dream Team shortlist.

The legendary striker, who has become a household name playing for Barcelona and Internazionale, has scored 371 goals in 764 career club appearances during his illustrious career.

Eto’o was not a happy man after the shortlist unveiled

At Nou Camp, Eto’o won three LaLigas and two European Cups, before adding a Serie A winner’s medal and yet another Champions League while representing Inter.

He also remains Cameroon’s all-time top scorer and third-most-selected player with 56 goals in 118 appearances.

And despite most of the success while functioning as a center forward, Eto’o had no place to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or Dream Team at his preferred position – much to his amazement.

“Thanks, but I played 1-2 seasons on the right (yet I have 25 years of career as a center forward),” Eto’o tweeted after seeing the right winger nominations.

“The lack of respect. @francefootball WHAT! “

Lionel Messi was the only current player to make the right winger nominations, with David Beckham, Luis Figo and Arjen Robben among the more modern names on the roster.

Football icons such as George Best, Kevin Keegan, Stanley Matthews were also on the star shortlist.

Eto’o hung up his boots in September 2019, after playing for Qatar SC.
