Ronaldo approaches scoring record against France, Lukaku will intimidate Man Utd captain Maguire in England clash

The Premier League season has been an exciting one so far but it has taken a break this week as we catch up with international football.

Many high profile stars will be in action for their respective nations and there are big clashes including England v Belgium and France v Portugal – which pits Kylian Mbappe against Cristiano Ronaldo.

England and Belgium have faced each other twice at the 2018 World Cup – with Belgium leading twice

We’ve picked some of the best bets from two of this weekend’s biggest games to get you into the action…

England vs Belgium – Nations League (Sunday, 5 p.m.)

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has had a nightmarish start to the season and has come under heavy criticism following the 6-1 loss to Spurs last Sunday – and we don’t think it will get any better for him this weekend.

Maguire has a big job to do to keep Romelu Lukaku calm, with the forward in great shape.

Lukaku was not wanted at Manchester United but has played since joining Inter Milan and has an incredible record internationally.

He is Belgium’s all-time top scorer, having scored 52 goals in 85 matches, including 30 in his last 29 games.

We believe he will intimidate Maguire and the England defense at Wembley, with Joe Gomez also coming into this situation following a nightmare for his club as he was sent off in the stunning 7-2 loss Liverpool v Aston Villa last weekend.

Lukaku is 4/1 to open the scoring, 17/10 to score anytime, and 10/1 to score twice or more.

Lukaku has been unstoppable for Belgium in recent years

Belgium have one of their most talented teams in world football, with Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard pulling the strings for them, and have scored 42 goals in their last ten games.

De Bruyne was the Premier League’s top playmaker last season, with 20 assists, and will be confident to gain the upper hand over the England midfielder.

TalkSPORT’s best bets:

France vs Portugal – Nations League (Sunday, 7.45 p.m.)

What a battle it is – the world champions against the European champions in Paris.

Cristiano Ronaldo clashes with the man pushed by many to take over from him and Lionel Messi as the world’s best player, Kylian Mbappe.

Ronaldo has scored 101 incredible goals for Portugal and is desperate to claim another record by becoming the top scorer in international football – he only needs nine more to overtake Iran’s Ali Daei.

After failing to find the net against Spain midweek, the 35-year-old will be even more determined to add to his record – and who are we to support against him? Get on him to score anytime at 29/20.

Mbappe, meanwhile, is fresh and fit after coming off the bench and finding the net in France’s 7-1 demolition of Ukraine in midweek. He already has 15 goals for France, at just 21, and only has 11/8 to score at any given time.

Ronaldo won’t want to be outscored by the youngster and on 19/4 for both forwards to score can be worth a punt.

Ronaldo shows no signs of slowing down at 35

Ronaldo shows no signs of slowing down at 35

In addition to Mbappe vs Ronaldo, there will also be an intriguing battle for midfield dominance between Manchester United team-mates Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.

Pogba looks like a different player in a France jersey and it won’t be a surprise if he comes out on top. This could be essential in helping France get ahead of Portugal and while we expected Ronaldo to have a say, we are backing a home win.

There is little value in the 11/10 offered for a France win, but a home win and the two scoring teams stand out at 19/5.
