Paul Robinson has urged Tottenham not to send Joe Rodon back to Swansea City on loan if they strike a deal for the defender before Friday’s deadline.
The former Leeds and Spurs goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football insider Correspondent Dylan Childs said the 22-year-old “will be the last piece of the puzzle for Jose Mourinho” this season.
Football insider revealed earlier today that Spurs are confident to sign the Welsh international before the national window closes, even though no deal is in place yet.
The two clubs are in talks on a £ 15million deal that could include several fringe Spurs players, while cash buyback and loan buyback deals remain on the table.
Robinson is adamant that Rodon could be an asset to the Lilywhites’ first team this season and object to the center half being loaned to the Championship side.
“I don’t see why the deal wouldn’t go through.
“No disrespect for Swansea but he’s at a small club and Spurs have the financial power.
“I think Rodon will be the last piece of the puzzle for Jose Mourinho in this window.
“I don’t want him going back to Swansea on loan. I think he can play a major role this season.
“This is a position where Spurs don’t have an abundance of talent.
“They buy it for a reason. It’s not like the other inexperienced young players you send off on loan. He is a player I would like to see stay.
