Richarlison appeared to question the severity of his challenge on Thiago Alcantara following Liverpool’s draw with Everton on Saturday.

The Brazilian forward was given a red card in the second half of the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park for his knee-high challenge over the Liverpool midfielder.

Richarlison then apologized for the tackle and said the challenge was “the result of excessive dedication”.

The 23-year-old also revealed that he personally sent Thiago an apology after the game.

But the authenticity of Richarlison’s apology has now been questioned by Liverpool supporters after responding to a challenge post on Twitter with an image of his painful reaction to the tackle.

Richarlison accompanied the image with a thinking face emoji, which many interpreted as an innuendo that the challenge was not as severe as initially believed.

The Brazilian then deleted the post on Twitter.

Thiago managed to finish the game but Jurgen Klopp later revealed that the midfielder was injured by Richarlison’s challenge.

“I leave the pitch and Thiago tells me that in the red card situation with Richarlison, he thinks he got injured,” said the Liverpool manager.

“We’ll see if it’s true or not. When a player feels like this, we’ll immediately take a look.

The Spain international could now be in doubt for Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Ajax on Wednesday.
