REPORTS: Le’Veon Bell decides between five teams tonight or tomorrow, bears among them

Running back Le’Veon Bell wasn’t on the market long after the Jets released him (officially today at 3 p.m. PT), and, according to reports, he won’t be.As hoped (expected?), The Bears would be in the mix, but it looks like this could be a case where the rich get richer:

Allbright tends to be right about these things, so if you buy Fescoe’s report, those are probably the five teams that Bell is considering.

With the Chiefs, Bell can share time with Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and while he may not be a star full-back, this attack is powerful enough to give him a lot of high-level touches. With the Bears, Bell would also share the time, but he would be more of an add-on on an attack that needs whatever he can get (rather than the explosive ride).

For his part, Bears head coach Matt Nagy offered kind words to Bell, but didn’t question if the Bears were chasing him. Without Tarik Cohen for the rest of the year, it would be nice to have another versatile folder available.

We’ll see. Fingers still crossed. For what it’s worth, PointsBet has bears as a favorite:
