Hall of Fame coach Bob Baffert will try to break the tie for most Preakness Stakes wins by a coach when he saddles two top contenders, Kentucky Derby winner Authentic and Thousand Words, in the Preakness Stakes 2020 Saturday at the Pimlico Race Course. Baffert, 67, enters Saturday’s race with seven Preakness wins, most recent in 2018 with eventual Triple Crown winner Justify. He’s tied with Robert Wyndham Walden, who won the race seven times in the late 1800s, for the most part by a coach entering the 2020 Preakness.

On Saturday, Baffert has two chances to win his eighth: Authentic, the 9-5 morning line-favorite in William Hill’s 2020 Preakness Stakes odds, and Thousand Words, who is 8-1. The 2020 Preakness Stakes release time is 5:36 p.m. ET. Before you make a choice for 2020 Preakness Stakes, you need to see what legendary handicapper Hammerin ‘Hank Goldberg has to say.

A former horse racing analyst for ESPN and NBC, Goldberg has grown into a legendary handicapper by going straight to the source. In 2004, he had dinner before the Belmont Stakes with coach Nick Zito at a pizzeria in Queens. The dinner led Goldberg to play Zito Birdstone’s 36-1 monster to win and in addition to his exacta, trifecta and superfecta bets. When Birdstone shocked the world, Goldberg won $ 24,000.

In the San Felipe Stakes in March, Hammer gave a $ 20 exacta which paid out $ 180. In the Belmont Stakes in June, Goldberg was all over Tiz the Law, who scored a convincing victory in the first Triple Crown race of the year. In the Blue Grass Stakes, Hammer nailed the exact Art Collector-Swiss Skydiver for $ 169.40. In July, he hit the exacta Authentic-Ny Traffic in Haskell for $ 158. And in August, in the Pacific Classic, he gave away the Sharp Maximum Safety Samurai for $ 177.50. Anyone who followed Goldberg’s lead is on the rise.

Now Goldberg has researched the 2020 Preakness Stakes field and has posted his picks, predictions and exotic bets only on SportsLine.

Top Preakness Stakes 2020 Predictions

A shock: Goldberg is not backing the Kentucky Derby Authentic winner, even though he is the 9-5 favorite. The three-year-old son of Into Mischief has lost only once in his career, finishing second in the Santa Anita Derby in June.

Last month in the Kentucky Derby, Authentic took the lead and never looked back, upsetting the much-favored Tiz the Law.

But with Art Collector and Swiss Skydiver in the 2020 Preakness Stakes field, Authentic is potentially facing more pace pressure on Saturday. “He won’t get a free pass this time around from his rivals, who know what he can do when he establishes an unchallenged lead,” Goldberg told SportsLine.

Another curve: Goldberg is high on Ny Traffic, even though he is away at 15-1. Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. and ridden by Horacio Karamanos, this gray colt has one win, three seconds and a third out of six starts this year. Last month in Louisville, he passed out in eighth place in the Kentucky Derby.

However, Ny Traffic sustained a cut to his left front ankle and lost his right front shoe in that race, so Goldberg forgives him for that finish. “The Derby is the only bad race he’s had since joining coach Saffie Joseph’s barn,” Goldberg told SportsLine. “He should be close to the beat and I expect a rebound performance. “

How to Predict 2020 Preakness Stakes

Goldberg is high on a double-digit plan that peaks at the perfect time. Goldberg includes this horse in his exactas, trifectas and superfectas, and so do you. He shares which horses to come back here.
