It was the dramatic moment when police boarded a Ryanair flight from Liverpool following an apparent ‘bloodstained altercation’ in flight. Ryanair flight FR4346 took off from Liverpool Airport at 6:29 a.m. and was due to land at Tenerife South Airport at 10:40 a.m. yesterday (October 16).

Plane trackers show how the Ryanair plane made a sharp right turn as it flew over the Atlantic Ocean to land in Lisbon at 9:36 a.m.

Ryanair confirmed to ECHO that the passenger was abducted by police before the flight to the Canary Islands continued.

However, they declined to comment on further details of the incident.

A spokesperson for the low cost airline said: “This flight from Liverpool to Tenerife (October 16) was diverted to Lisbon after a passenger became a disruptive flight.

“The plane landed normally and the passenger was removed by police on arrival before the plane continued to Tenerife. ”

Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Lisbon Police did not respond to requests for comment.

A passenger, who was on the hijacked flight, told ECHO how passengers cheered when the troublemaker was abducted by local police.

Describing what happened, he said: “There was screaming and then screaming from the back of the plane and the flight attendants ran to the back of the plane. “

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, added that things “calmed down” before an altercation occurred.

As the plane landed in Lisbon, the passenger said the plane’s door was opened and about five Portuguese police officers came on board.

He added: “The passengers applauded as they left the plane. [and] someone shouted “you’re not that brave now so you are”…

“The stewards were fantastic and handled the situation calmly, all thanks to them. ”

Anthony Ainsworth of Tuebrook was on the return flight as a member of the same cabin crew spoke to customers about the spectacular arrival flight.
