To which Phillip replied, “Are you asking me to come out?

Shaun Keaveny – who co-hosts the show – sounded awkwardly, “I feel like a little gooseberry now. “

Richard’s civilian partner, David Oldham, died last winter after a long illness.

Phillip came out on live television in February after 27 years of marriage to his wife Steph.

And he paid a moving tribute to Holly Willoughby, “amazing,” after supporting him and his family when it happened.

The TV presenter said the “sensitive and balanced” demeanor of his This Morning co-host helped him navigate the life-changing experience.

Breaking down in tears at Chris Evans’ breakfast on Virgin Radio Friday, he said, “Holly was amazing. Literally the best companion … sit is serene and calming, sensible and balanced.

He added that it was not only for him, but also for Stephanie Lowe, his wife of 27, with whom he has daughters Molly, 27, and Ruby, 24.

Phillip said: “I recently found myself finding it easier to laugh – it’s always funny with Holly, we always laugh.

But you think – it’s nice to laugh, it’s better. So finding me is the goal at the moment.

In the heartwarming and heartfelt interview, he spoke about telling his mother he was gay, the journey being made to find himself, and what it was like to be on the edge.

The TV personality said he didn’t realize until after it was posted on Instagram that it would save lives as well.

He said, “I thought about myself a lot… I got lost in the darkness of my own head a lot, so I didn’t think about the wider consequences.

“I was concerned about family, I was concerned about work, how will people see me, will they look at me differently…

“In fact, last night someone texted me and said, you saved my life and you did it right.

Explaining what it was like to be on the edge, Phillip said, “Just, ‘I don’t know if I want to be here anymore.’ And it’s a scary place, but I think I was very, very lucky to have had Steph.

The This Morning star said his mother knew something was going on when he traveled to Cornwall to see her.

He said: “I have floaters in my eyes that drive me crazy. I don’t talk much about it… it’s like a dirty bathroom window drifting in front of my vision…

“So we had our fish and chips and I said ‘mum I have something to tell you’ and she said ‘ok, ok’ and I said ‘I’m gay’.

‘And she said,’ Oh thank god I thought you were going blind ‘!’

Phillip added that he is always finding himself and that through his book and his interviews he tries to be as honest as possible.

The Dancing On Ice host previously revealed that his weight dropped to just nine stones after dropping three stones over the stress of becoming gay.

Radio host Chris became moved when he remembered seeing Phillip after he lost weight.

He said, “I didn’t recognize you. And Holly glanced at me and I thought – hmm – there’s something going on here – you looked like a little old man, because there was nothing for you.

Phillip said, “You disappear inside yourself, and that’s where you get lost.

“All you do is think about whatever you think… I’m saying you have to talk, even if you’re not a talker, even if it’s not something you do.

“If you’re in trouble you can’t do it alone and it will eat you up. That’s what saved me – speaking out loud.

The Five Gold Rings host said a psychiatrist didn’t work for him because he “couldn’t do the ‘your hour is up’ and then be kicked out on the street after sobbing me senseless.”

He said he had found a psychologist who worked much better for him.

Last week he admitted he felt “proud” of the man he is, but he also regrets the impact the news has had on his family.

Revealing some of the thoughts he used to have, he said, “You can’t be married for 27 years and do this job.

“You can’t do this without hurting everyone. But what about me? If I don’t do that, all I do is myself, maybe really seriously. And so that’s what comes and goes, round, round and round.

Phil also revealed that while he feared the reaction of his friends and the public, most people just asked him if he was okay.

Among the supporters was Michelle Visage, whom he met in the industry and asked her for a coffee to see how he was doing after breaking the news.

Recalling what he told him when they came out, he said: “I feel like I joined a club, but I don’t know if I have the right credentials. I do not know. Can I put a rainbow after what I said?

Phil added, “And she said, ‘Of course you can’. And I said, “I don’t know what I can and can’t do”.

And she said, “You are fighting for no reason. Welcome to the club. And what’s more, you made a huge difference for people who also didn’t know that maybe they could be members of this club ”. ‘
