Pendant Saturday Night Live’In the “Weekend Update” segment, Pete Davidson gave his two cents on JK Rowling’s transphobic comments. When Colin Jost asked what Le roi de Staten Island star thought about Harry Potter and Fantastic beasts Author’s comments, Davidson said his comments were “very disappointing” and that he wanted times simpler.

“I long for a few young ears ago when the worst things she did were the ones Fantastic beasts movies. No discrimination there, they hurt us all, ”he joked.

Like someone who has a Harry Potter– inspired tattoo, Davidson said he defends it by saying he “didn’t know JK Rowling was going to go all Mel Gibson.” ”

Rowling’s comments against the transgender community make no sense given her dedication to the mystical and the imaginary, Davidson continued.

“What’s his problem?” She’s creating a fantastic seven-book series on all types of mythical creatures living in harmony with wizards and elves and the one thing she can’t figure out is Laverne Cox? said the actor.

When asked if he would stop reading Rowling’s books, Davidson admits he never read any and watched a Harry Potter film once on a flight. Watch the video above.

Earlier this year, Rowling published a personal essay last month in an attempt to explain her beliefs on transgender rights. She claimed that some requests from transgender activists were dangerous for women. The essay was widely criticized by LGBTQ + advocacy groups, who called it transphobic.
