Officials say some older election officials are calling because of the coronavirus, which means there could be a shortage on election day in places across the country like New York. Governor Cuomo says the National Guard can be used to help and that he has allowed the unemployed to work at polling stations while still receiving benefits.

Vote advocate Susan Lerner of the Common Cause group wants young people to become election officials.

“Power The Polls Dot Org, the national website, especially for young voters who want to register. They will then send your information to the election authorities in your state. “

Meanwhile, New York Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza is trying to convince the Council of Elections not to use schools for early voting which begins October 24 due to the pandemic.

“We should limit the number of human beings entering school buildings.”
