North York school closes after staff member tests positive for coronavirus


A staff member at a Catholic school in Toronto has tested positive for the coronavirus, causing the school to be temporarily closed this week.The Toronto Catholic District School Board made the announcement on October 4, after receiving notice of the confirmed coronavirus test and discussions with Toronto public health.

St. Charles Catholic School, located near Dufferin Street and Lawrence Avenue West in the North York region, will be closed October 5-9, according to un tweet by the TCDSB.

Last week, a school in Scarborough was closed after Toronto Public Health declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at Mason Road Junior Public School.

According to the school board’s COVID-19 dashboard, staff who work at the school also work at St. Demetrius Catholic School, St. Mark Catholic School, St. Roch Catholic School, and St. Ursula Catholic School.
