Nicolas Pepe scored a wonderful curling effort to seal a 3-0 Europa League win for Arsenal over Dundalk on Thursday, leaving both Mikel Arteta and the Gunners fans in awe.
In the first moments of the second half, the Ivorian winger scored the last goal of the night for the Gunners by rolling the ball under his foot on the edge of the box before shooting in a superb strike with his right foot weaker in the upper corner of the goal
Arsenal boss Arteta raved about the 25-year-old’s superb strike after the game that was Pepe’s second goal in three home games in north London.
Nicolas Pepe scored a magnificent goal as Arsenal beat Dundalk 3-0 in the Europa League
The Ivorian rolled his foot on the ball before curling in a nice right-footed effort on Thursday
The Spanish manager told BT Sport: “It was (a nice goal) – on his right foot too, which was weird. But it was a big goal.
And Arsenal fans also appreciated the strike and took to social media to congratulate the 25-year-old on his wonderful effort.
A One Gunners fan tweeted: “When Pepe reaches his full potential, he will be unplayable! It’s a crazy goal!
Another said: “I didn’t realize how good Nicolas Pepe’s goal was until I watched it in slow motion”.
Meanwhile, one fan put a negative effect on the goal, saying, “Such a frustrating player. He always has this in his locker but we don’t see him often enough!
Pepe had a mixed opening 15 months at Arsenal after his record-breaking £ 72million transfer from Lille. The winger has been a part of the Gunners’ starting lineup since joining, but has often shown some quality glimpses that justify his weight shift.
After a mixed reception from former boss Unai Emery, who claimed in an interview earlier this year that Pepe was not his first choice transfer option to Arsenal, new boss Arteta gave the player a chance to become a great Arsenal.
Speaking in September about Pepe’s potential at Arsenal, the current Arsenal manager said: “I think he has come a long way. We know what the club paid for him when he joined and it was obviously an additional pressure but he is a player who had to adapt, it’s a different style.

“He has a great attitude. We can see that he has developed in many phases of his game.
“He’s very settled here, he’s loved by the boys, he’s a really good character to have around and I’m very sure we’re going to have him for many years to come and that he can perform at a really high level of consistently. ‘
Pepe’s goal against Dundalk was his second of the season, his first coming in the 2-1 win over Sheffield United earlier this month.
It was also his tenth goal for the club since arriving at the Emirates Stadium in August 2019, with the milestone during his 52nd appearance at Arsenal in all competitions.
